Bubble Tutorial

Create a new layer, select the Elliptical Marquee Tool & make an oval about a third of the width of the circle. Select the Gradient Fill Tool, set it to Foreground to Transparent & select the colour as white. Drag the cursor from top to bottom to about three quarters of the way down & fill.

5

Next hold down the CTRL key & click on the circle layer to select it & make a new layer. Make sure you have circle selection & the new [blank] layer selected. Go to Select, Modify & select Contract. Contract it by 2 pixels & then select the Rectangular Marquee Tool. Hold down the ALT key & make the rectangle an=bout a third from the bottom up to the top. This will cut off the top part to leave it looking like the pic below.

6

Select the Gradient Fill Tool, set it to Foreground to Transparent & select the colour as white. Drag the cursor from the bottom to the top of the way up the selection & fill. Select Filters, Blur, Gaussian Blur... & enter about 1.5 then go to the layer & change the Opacity to about 65%.

7

All you have to do now is insert your picture or icon. If you want to insert an icon open it up in GIF Movie Gear & select File, Export As, Photoshop PSD... [name your file.]

Open up the icon file you've just exported to .PSD format in Photoshop & copy the 48x48 version [CTRL & A, then CTRL & C]. Switch to the bubble picture & paste it [CTRL & V].

8

It'll probably be too big so go to Edit, Transform, Scale. & reduce the size to about 65% [depends on the icon/image]. Then change the opacity of the layer to about 65%. Make sure the layer is below the 2 white highlight layers.

9

Repeat the steps with the other icon sizes you want to make, [e.g. 48x48, 32x32, 16x16] until you have all the Photoshop icon sizes you want. Save each icon size as a separate file.

Then close Photoshop.
